Hojicha

£7.99

Origin: Japan, Shizuoka Prefecture

Producer: Various Tea Estates

Category: Premium

Quantity: 100g

Hojicha is a unique take on green tea and is common in Japan. Most commonly, late-harvest bancha or sencha (with or without stems) gets roasted, resulting in brown leaves and a nutty toasty flavour and umami. The roasting results in a low-caffeine brew and a completely different flavour profile.

Aroma: Toast caramel, oceanic

Tasting Notes: Nuts, toast, umami

This green tea has a smooth mouthfeel and delicate nuttiness with a mild toast flavour. It also has oceanic umami notes, making it stand out from other green teas.

This tea can be brewed with water that is about 80-90 degrees Celsius. We don’t recommend anything above that.

This tea can take a small splash of milk.

Food pairing suggestions: Chocolate and caramel desserts, nut-based cakes, tempura, creamy soft cheeses, fried rice.

All our products are packed in an environment that handles nuts and other allergens!
